I am Charlotte Ahyen from Mauritius Island. I’m from the south, precisely from Rivière des Anguilles. I am the last born from a Christian family of 3 children. I live together with my parents, Lloyd and Marie Josée, my two elder brothers, Fabrice and Arnaud; and my sister-in-law Cathie. I am 21 years old and presently I’m in 3rd year of BSc (Hons) Marketing Management at the University of Mauritius. I believe Marketing Management is a good tool to evolve in world of business as it enables people to build up their personalities, it provides good communication and management skills which is primordial in this fast developing world.

I was working as part-time Marketing Officer at Stag Beverages Ltd, a brewery from June 2011 till December 2011. This has undoubtedly given me great insights into the world of business. Ever since I was a child I’ve always been fascinated and attracted by the fashion world. I’ve been doing some modelling since 2007. By the end of 2010, I had 10 runway appearances under my belt. My family, especially my mum, my sister-in-law and my friends, whom I cherish a lot, have always been a great support for me in all activities I’ve undertaken. My mom has always been there for me, more like a "sister" and a "friend". She acts more like an advisor to me. She has always allowed me and my siblings to take our very own decisions. This space in upbringing has made me what I am today. I’m quite independent since school days. I can definitely distinguish between good and wrong, and I am very grateful to her. I am a great fan of acoustic music. Involved in the choir of my parish, we share a lot of beautiful emotional songs at the mass every Sundays. I Love sports and cultural activities, I participate in several extracurricular activities, excursions, shows, since I was in high school. I am the contest winner of the 1st edition of Miss University of Mauritius 2011.

I am motivated to raise people’s awareness on actions to protect our environment and the fight against racism that actually affect our society. Living in a multicultural country, I think that respect for others is crucial.
